Meet the Team
At Canine Training Yorkshire, our mission is to help dogs and their owners build strong, trusting relationships through effective and compassionate training
Gina’s passion for dogs started as a child spending her spare time with family and friends’ dogs. Once leaving home and getting her own dogs she quickly learned that sometimes dogs’ behaviour can be challenging and extra help with training is required. Unable to find suitable support in Bridlington where she lives Gina decided to become a dog trainer herself not only to help her own dog but to be able to support others in future.
To gain practical experience she volunteered at Well Connected Canine in York for several years and went on to teach for them.
Gina is now a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (MAPDT 01486) and adheres to their code of practice which can be found here Code of Practice (apdt.co.uk).
She also studied at Bishop Burton College for five years, gaining a Foundation degree in Canine Training and Behaviour and a BSc in Canine Behaviour Management from the University of Hull.
Gina continues her studies to better understand progressive science and evidence-based dog training methods and gain accreditation as a registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist.
Andrea’s love for dogs began in childhood and has become a lifelong passion. Over the years, she has enjoyed sharing her life with many dogs, but one special dog changed everything. He came into her life with behavioural challenges that needed addressing, and through helping him, she discovered her passion—understanding and improving canine behaviour.
This journey led her to volunteer with expert dog trainers in York and Harrogate, where she gained invaluable hands-on experience. She then pursued a formal education, starting with a Foundation Degree in Canine Behaviour and Training at University Centre Bishop Burton. She followed this with a Bachelor's Degree in Canine Behaviour Management from the University of Hull and is currently working towards her Master's Degree in Clinical Animal Behaviour at the University of Edinburgh to fulfil her goal to become a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist.
Andrea believes in using science-based, positive reinforcement methods to address behaviour and training issues. It is important to her that she stays informed about the latest research and advancements in the field, as canine behaviour science is constantly evolving. By applying the most up-to-date techniques, she can ensure the most effective and compassionate solutions for both, dogs and their guardians.
She is a member of the Professional Association of Canine Trainers (PACT) and the Animal Behaviour & Training Council (ABTC) and adheres to their code of practice.
Along the way, she realised how important it is to strengthen the bond between dogs and their guardians. Her mission is to help dogs and their guardians live happier, more harmonious lives. Whether you are seeking guidance in training or support with behavioural issues, she is here to help you and your dog create a lasting, positive connection.
